Supplier Quality Assurance Specialist - Quincy, IL
This is an exempt level position.

Job Summary: 
The Supplier Quality Specialist supports the Supplier Verification Program for Pet Nutrition and Animal Nutrition by executing desktop and remote supplier verification activities. This role is responsible for supplier onboarding support, document-based supplier reviews, risk data collection, and ongoing supplier monitoring in accordance with FDA regulations (21 CFR Part 507), internal standards, and customer requirements. The Supplier Quality Specialist works under the direction of the Supplier Quality Manager and supports Supplier Quality Auditors by providing accurate, timely supplier verification data.
This position reports to the Supplier Quality Manager.
Essential Job Functions: 
  • Execute desktop and remote supplier verification activities in support of the Supplier Verification Program.
  • Collect, review, and maintain supplier documentation, including risk assessment forms, ingredient certifications, certificates of analysis, safety data sheets, and third-party audit certificates.
  • Support supplier onboarding by coordinating required information and ensuring completeness prior to supplier approval.
  • Perform document-based supplier risk reviews and identify gaps, inconsistencies, or missing information.
  • Maintain supplier records and databases to ensure information is complete, accurate, and current, including identification of foreign-sourced suppliers and materials.
  • Communicate supplier status, documentation gaps, and verification outcomes to Procurement, Quality, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Support Supplier Quality Auditors by preparing audit files, reviewing supplier documentation, and tracking corrective action responses.
  • Monitor supplier performance data and assist with routine supplier performance reporting.
  • Identify & escalate potential supplier risks to the Supplier Quality Manager or Supplier Quality Auditor.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, divisional procedures, and established governance related to supplier quality and compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Animal Science, Agriculture, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 3-5 years of experience in supplier quality, food safety, quality systems, or regulatory roles within food, feed, or pet nutrition industries.
  • Experience conducting supplier qualification or managing supplier relationships strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of FSMA requirements.
  • Experience with Oracle or other ERP systems strongly desired.
  • Certifications desired (must be willing to obtain if not already held): HACCP, PCQI, FSVP
