In this pivotal doer-seller, entrepreneurial role, you will develop, lead, and manage a Commissioning team of professionals and execute Commissioning services projects. You will provide technical and process management support for commissioning projects as well as business development to expand our client base. This role comes with autonomy backed by substantial horsepower. The variety of daily tasks will keep you inspired and engaged.Your skills will be instrumental in inspecting building systems and creating comprehensive testing and closeout documents, all while utilizing cutting-edge software to streamline processes and enhance efficiency. In this role, you will report directly to the Commissioning Department Manager and be engaged in strategic decisions to continue the growth of Dewberry's Commissioning Team.
Key Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering and commissioning - building systems
  • Proven commissioning experience
  • Commissioning process certification preferred or willingness to acquire within the first 6 months
  • Strong leadership and business development capabilities

Responsibilities
  • Doer-Seller: Find the work and execute it.
  • Actively support and coordinate with the entire commissioning team to execute projects and uphold our commitments.
  • HVAC sequence of operation knowledge and capable of performing design review of Sequence of operation and creating mechanical system testing procedures and testing same in the field
  • Must have knowledge of manipulating, adjusting, setup and testing HVAC controls systems such as JCI, Trane, Automated Logic, Siemens, etc. Knowledge in multiple control systems a plus
  • Must have complete working knowledge of HVAC chilled water and DX systems including design, operation and testing of: Chillers, Boilers, Cooling towers, pumps, heat exchangers, AHU, RTU, ERU, VAVs, exhaust, FCU, etc.
  • Review air and water test and balance process, review a TAB report and identify issues.
  • Visit client facilities and gather necessary data to test systems
  • Create system installation and testing documents
  • Be familiar with OSHA safety requirements and ability to identify deficiencies
  • Be familiar with building codes and ability to make intuitive decisions related to such
  • Read and understand building plans and specifications
  • Work safely around electrical systems up to 600 volts
  • Effectively communicate with all clients, construction trades, and design professionals
  • Have a high aptitude for abstract reasoning, assertiveness, thoroughness and be very detail oriented
  • Work flexible hours and work in hot or cold environments
  • Climb stairs, ladders, and lift trucks. Do moderate lifting. Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Travel approximately 50% of the time.

Required Skills & Required Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering
    • Accomplished engineer with 10+ years of experience
    • Commissioning experience
    • Commissioning process certification preferred or ability to acquire within first 6 months
    • Business development experience a plus
    • Professional Engineering License a plus or ability to acquire
    • Self-motivated with highly developed verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
