Job description

  • Undermoderate guidance, reviews requests for AAA permits, treatment plans andreports associated with the BEAD program for alignment with policy, includingevaluating qualifications of prospective Project Directors and PrincipalInvestigators for listing on AAA Permits and provides recommendations to the AAA Permits Office Manager;flags risks and recommends standard conditions. Escalates complex cases tohigher level staff.
  • Prepares draft notices, summaries of determinations, and consultationmaterials consistent with legal and institutional templates; coordinates reviewand approvals.
  • Serves as theprimary point of contact to obtain necessary signatures, missing applicationmaterials, and return of materials to applicants.
  • Maintains paper,electronic records and database for the BEAD Program in the Permits Office including invoices, Notifications of Intent to Survey, permit applications, PD/PI applications,and other tasks performed by AAA Permits Office.
  • Coordinates invoicing tasks for, and maintains the Mandated Programs database related to, tasksperformed by the AAA Permits Office.
  • Participate in riskassessments to identify compliance risks within AAA Permits Office. Documentaudit findings and assist in developing corrective action plans as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of archaeology and archaeological experience, preferably within the Southwest and with cultural resources management in the United States.
  • Working knowledge of the Arizona Antiquities Act (A.R.S. 15-1631 and 41-841 through 41-844) or similar statutes from another state.
  • Ability to read USGS 7.5' maps and understanding the UTM & PLSS location systems.
  • Demonstrable skills working with Microsoft Access and ESRI ArcGIS.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).
