Perishable Associate

Department: Perishable (Meat, Dairy & Frozen)
Reports To: Perishable Manager / Assistant Perishable Manager
Status: Full-Time or Part-Time

Position Summary

The Perishable Associate plays a vital role in delivering the fresh, fully stocked shopping experience our customers expect at Save More Marketplace. This position works across our Meat, Dairy, and Frozen departments, ensuring products are stocked, rotated, merchandised, and maintained to the highest standards of quality and food safety.

Perishable Associates are expected to be dependable, customer-focused, and willing to work in multiple areas of the department as business needs require. Every day presents something different, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety and working in a fast-paced supermarket environment.

Essential ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service
  • Provide friendly, knowledgeable, and prompt customer service.
  • Assist customers with locating products and answering questions.
  • Help create an enjoyable shopping experience by maintaining clean, organized departments.
Stocking & Merchandising
  • Stock Meat, Dairy, and Frozen departments throughout the day.
  • Rotate product using First-In, First-Out (FIFO) inventory practices.
  • Maintain full, attractive, and organized displays.
  • Build endcaps, promotional displays, and features as directed.
  • Monitor product quality and remove damaged or outdated merchandise.
Inventory
  • Assist with receiving deliveries and stocking incoming freight.
  • Organize backrooms, coolers, and freezers.
  • Help maintain accurate inventory levels and minimize shrink.
  • Notify department leadership of out-of-stocks or ordering needs.
Food Safety & Sanitation
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and company procedures.
  • Monitor product temperatures and maintain cold chain integrity.
  • Maintain clean coolers, freezers, displays, and work areas.
  • Follow proper cleaning schedules and safety procedures.
Meat Department Support
  • Stock fresh meat, packaged meats, and frozen meat products.
  • Wrap, label, and merchandise products as directed.
  • Maintain clean meat cases and preparation areas.
  • Assist with value-added products and production when trained.
Dairy & Frozen Support
  • Stock milk, eggs, cheese, yogurt, ice cream, frozen foods, and other perishable products.
  • Face shelves throughout the day to maintain a full and attractive appearance.
  • Rotate inventory and monitor product dates.
  • Maintain organized coolers and freezers.
Teamwork
  • Work collaboratively with associates across all perishable departments.
  • Assist other departments during busy periods as needed.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by management.

Requirements

QualificationsRequired
  • Previous retail, grocery, warehouse, food service, or stocking experience preferred, but not required.
  • Strong work ethic and dependable attendance.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
