Job description


Warehouse Associate (Breakpack) - Part-Time
Tuesday & Wednesday | 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM
$20.50/hour

As a Warehouse Shipping Associate, you will help the distribution center meet its goals by wrapping and loading pallets into outbound trailers for delivery to our retail stores (training provided).
Play an active role in helping your distribution center and your customer win:
  • An ability to be MHEO certified and safely operate necessary material handling equipment
  • Build pallets of cases and totes for shipment to stores and stack empty pallets
  • Organize, stack, and operate automated shrink-wrapping machine to wrap pallets
  • Load finished pallets manually; lifting, lowering, and carrying product a fast-paced environment into outbound trailers with material handling equipment (MHE), such as pallet jack
  • Move product around warehouse using MHE
  • Verify accuracy of completed pallets and resolve any discrepancies
  • Ability to adopt our safety procedures quickly and ensure safe work practices to avoid injury and damage to product within our safety culture
  • Ability to work in hot environment of approximately 95 degrees F at upper levels during the summer and able to work with seasonal temperature variations
  • Assist in other departments and perform a variety of other duties as assigned

Essential skills and experience:
  • Ability to work Tuesday and Wednesday 7:00 am-5:00 pm
  • Minimum three (3) months related experience in a warehouse environment; or any equivalent combination of acceptable training, education, and experience
  • Ability to lift, lower, push, pull or carry product up to a maximum of 100 pounds by hand, and work at average heights of up to 8-9 feet but up to 30 feet at times
  • Perform moderate physical effort and use of motor skills requiring manual dexterity, regularly stand, walk, stoop, kneel, pull/push, twist, reach, climb ladders and crouch
  • Ability to walk and stand 100% of the time
  • Able to work with moderate noise level and operate warehouse equipment
  • Demonstrated regular attendance and must have the ability to work additional hours beyond scheduled shift; additional overtime hours will be required based on business need
  • Basic English language, reading and writing skills; basic math and data entry
  • Pass a background check and drug screen
  • Staples does not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position

Preferred skills and experience:
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience
  • Prior experience operating warehouse equipment, such as forklift, pallet jack and cherry picker helpful
