Whatย You'llย Doย 
As aย Ski Patrolย - Levelย 2,ย you will play a vital role inย providing a safe environment for guests toย recreateย on the mountain. Whetherย it'sย ensuring that trails are safe orย enforcing rules while patrolling assignedย areas, the members of this team are big contributors to our daily operations.ย ย 
Your responsibilities will include:ย 

  • Performs all duties and meets all operational expectations of a Ski Patrol Level I employee.ย ย 
  • Independently performs routine opening,ย operating, emergency response, and closing assignments.ย ย 
  • Demonstrates detailed knowledge of Alyeska's in-area and outer-area terrain, patrol facilities,ย chairlifts andย tram,ย liftย evacuationย plans, emergency access routes, and mountain geography.ย ย 
  • Performs and teaches established sweep procedures for main-area and outer-area terrain.ย ย 
  • Assistsย the closing supervisor with closing duties and understands how to document and pass along operational information for the following day.ย ย 
  • Performs Dispatch duties independently andย demonstratesย proficiencyย with radio communications, phone notifications, event logging, incident documentation,ย avalanche andย missing-person procedures, andย Smartmountain.ย ย 
  • Performs Aid Room duties independently, including patient-care transfers, documentation, equipment restocking, and returning medical supplies and equipment to service.ย ย 
  • Supervises designated work-run assignments and setup projects, including coordinating personnel,ย identifyingย incomplete or improperly installed safety materials, and ensuring assigned work is completed correctly.ย ย 
  • Serves as a committee chair, assistant chair, or active committee leader and supports committee projects, training, succession planning, and documentation.ย ย 
  • Serves as an approved instructor in at least two patrol disciplines and provides training during annual refreshers, committee training, or on-the-job instruction.ย ย 
  • Mentors less-experienced patrollers and provides constructive feedbackย regardingย patrol skills, operational performance, and professional development.ย ย 
  • Demonstrates advanced avalanche rescue competency, including multiple or complex burial searches, RECCO operations, and functioning as a Hasty Team Leader when qualified.ย ย 
  • May serve as a Lift Evacuation Team Leader for assigned zones and coordinates ground teams, guest communication, belay systems, and communication with Dispatch.ย ย 
  • Performs qualified tower-climbing, roll-cabย belay, tram evacuation, and other lift evacuation duties after completing the applicable Level IIย sign-offs.ย ย 
  • Performs rope rescue duties consistent with the employee's completed Level II technical rescue qualifications.ย ย 
  • Conductsย incidentย investigations consistent with completed Phase I through Phase III qualifications andย assistsย with jump-feature measurements and documentation when qualified.ย ย

What We Needย 

  • Meets all qualifications and competency requirements of Ski Patrol Level I.ย ย 
  • Possesses a current Outdoor Emergency Care certification or Alaska EMT-1 certification or higher.ย ย 
  • Possesses a current CPR Basic Life Support certificationย appropriate forย the employee's medical certification.ย ย 
  • Possesses an Avalanche Professional Level 1 (Pro 1) Certification.ย 
  • Has a minimum of three seasons of ski patrol experience.ย 
  • Possesses a current certificate of completion for ICS-100 or higher.ย ย 
  • Demonstrates detailed knowledge of the Alaska Skier Safety Act, Skier Safety Code, Alyeska safety-enforcement procedures, and applicable reporting requirements.ย ย 
  • Demonstratesย proficiencyย in Dispatch, Aid Room operations,ย avalanche andย missing-person management, mountain geography, outer-area sweeps, work-run leadership, safety enforcement, andย Smartย mountain.ย ย 
  • Demonstrates the advanced skiing ability, control, judgment, and physical fitness necessary to safely perform patrol duties throughout Alyeska's terrain in variable snow, weather, and visibility conditions, including closed terrain when assessing conditions, preparing terrain for opening, or performing avalanche mitigation.ย ย 
  • Demonstrates advancedย toboggan-handlingย skills in steep and technical terrain, including bothย in theย handles andย inย tail-rope positions.ย ย 
  • Completes the required Level II lift evacuation, tower climbing, rope rescue,ย incidentย investigation, snowmachine, and Snow Safety qualifications.ย ย 
  • Maintains qualification as an approved Alyeska instructor in at least two patrol disciplines.ย ย 
  • Ability toย workย a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, night operations, and extended shifts when necessary.ย ย 
  • Ability to work outdoors in severe and rapidly deteriorating weather, snow, darkness, and variable mountain conditions.ย ย 
  • Advancement to Ski Patrol Level II requires successful completion of all Patroller II Checklistย sign-offsย and approval through the established performance review, peer review, and final management review process.ย 
    ย
