To thrive as a Per Diem Insurance Coder, you need a solid understanding of medical terminology, coding systems (such as ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS), and typically a certification like CPC or CCS. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical billing software is essential for accurate coding and claim submission. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently are standout soft skills in this role. These competencies ensure precise coding, minimize claim denials, and support compliance with healthcare regulations.
