Job description

Per Diem Incentive:
Per diem employees are eligible for an incentive above base pay based on shift commitment. Incentive percentages are applied to all hours worked and are determined as follows:
• No minimum shift commitment: 10% above base rate
• Commitment of 3 shifts per month: 15% above base rate
• Commitment of 4 or more shifts per month: 20% above base rate
Incentive eligibility and commitment levels are subject to change and must be maintained to receive the applicable rate.
SUMMARY AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, assists with inventory maintenance, medication preparation, medication distribution, sterile IV compounding including chemotherapy, physical inspection, and recordkeeping. Responsible for department cost transfer billing of pharmaceuticals, shall become knowledgeable and abide by the Hospital policies and procedures, personnel policies and procedures, and the Pharmacy Department Policies and procedures. Willing to work weekends and holidays.
REPORTS TO: Director of Pharmacy Services
SUPERVISES: None
Internal and External Contacts:
All hospital departments and medical staff. Limited external contacts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Computer literate
  • Keyboard skills
  • Strong mathematics and analytical skills
  • Able to accept responsibility
  • Abilit to work under the direct supervision of a pharmacist
Experience/Specialized Skills:1-3 years accounting; Excel Experience required
Required Education/Course(s)/Training:
  • High school degree required with pharmacy or medical experience is preferred
Preferred Certification/Registration:
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certifications
  • CPhT - if not currently certified a national certification will be achieved within twelve (12) months.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Regularly spends more than 50% of the working day standing or walking, frequently using stairways. Lifts, pushes, or pulls light to average weight loads. Visual acuity is required as machines needing close visual attention are used. Occasional stress.

Possible exposure to hazardous materials
