Job description

Job Title: Per Diem Substitute Teacher

Supervisor: Principal or designee

Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00am-5:00pm Duration: As needed

Compensation: $200/daily



Description: Codman Academy Charter Public School is seeking Per Diem Substitute Teachers candidates to serve a grade K-12 school. Successful candidates have experience working in urban schools, and with special needs students and English Language Learners as well as classroom management expertise. If you are interested in becoming an educator working as a Substitute Teacher is a great way to sharpen your teaching skills while getting to know the inner workings of schools. Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Reports to the school upon arrival at the school building, arriving 30 minutes early to review all materials and ensure preparedness before the students arrive in the classroom

  • Maintain regular communication with Academic Support Coordinator and/or Principals regarding the daily schedule

  • Manage, create and maintain a positive learning environment in the classroom

  • Implement lesson plans

  • Incorporate direct instruction, small group work, projects, and cooperative learning to engage all students

  • Maintain regular communication with Academic Support Coordinator and Principals regarding the daily schedule

  • Maintain communication with classroom teachers regarding lesson plans, student progress and routines

  • Comfortable using various types of technology including but not limited to the Google suite, academic platforms, projectors, and video conferencing.

  • Must be willing to enforce Codman Academyโ€™s Habits of Scholarship

  • Report all student incidents, including injuries, accidents, illnesses, and behavioral problems Implement lesson plans

  • Share responsibility for celebrating grade level and school-wide activities

Additional Duties:

  • Perform any other tasks that are assigned to the absent staff on that day (bus duty, hallway, duty, study hall, recess etc.)

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university OR two years of college, Satisfactory CORI (Criminal Records check); those with a major in Education are encouraged to apply.

  • Prior Substitute Training, Teaching Certification, Experience working with children and/or adolescents,
