KCW Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer with a strong background in Pepco utility design standards and Quality Assurance (QA) to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical knowledge of Pepco’s design and construction requirements, hold active Professional Engineer (PE) licenses in both Washington, DC and Maryland, and possess a proven track record of maintaining high standards of design accuracy, compliance, and safety across complex utility projects.
Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a technical expert for Pepco-related underground and overhead distribution design standards, ensuring compliance across all deliverables.
  • Lead and oversee Quality Assurance (QA) reviews for electrical design packages, verifying adherence to Pepco, DDOT, and local jurisdictional requirements.
  • Develop and maintain engineering standards, checklists, and QA/QC procedures to promote consistency and best practices.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
  • Coordinate with clients, permitting agencies, and construction teams to resolve technical issues and improve design efficiency.
  • Support internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering department

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 5–10 years of experience in electrical distribution design, with direct Pepco experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in standards development, QA/QC, and design review for utility projects.
  • Strong understanding of NESC, NEC, and Pepco distribution standards.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) licenses in Washington, DC and Maryland preferred.

Compensation:

  • $50.00-$68.00/hour (equal to $104,000-$141,440 annually)
  • Position eligible for overtime
  • Position eligible for discretionary bonuses at the sole discretion of the company
