Compensation Range: $100,000-$125,000 base salary, we will also look at senior candidates and the salary can be adjusted for the level of the candidate if appropriate

Role Summary


The Analytics Manager is responsible for leading analytics, reporting, and data governance for the Truly Free Marketplace (TrulyFree.com). This role is designed as a hybrid of insight generation and data quality leadership, with a strong hands-on expectation in reporting, data modeling, and analysis.

This role supports marketplace leadership by improving the systems, processes, and cross-functional execution that drives marketplace performance, scalability, and customer experience.

The Truly Free BI function currently operates across Looker, DBT, BigQuery, and Cerebro, and recent internal assessment work identified major opportunities in report governance, data reliability, monitoring, refresh ownership, and operational accountability.

The Senior Business Intelligence Manager will turn marketplace data into clear business decisions while also building the processes, standards, and technical foundation required for trusted reporting.


Core Objective


Build and lead a marketplace BI function that helps Truly Free make faster, smarter, and more confident decisions by delivering accurate reporting, clear insights, strong metric governance, and dependable data operations.


Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and improve dashboards, reports, and recurring analyses that support marketplace growth, seller performance, customer behavior, assortment decisions, conversion, retention, and profitability.
  • Serve as the primary BI partner to marketplace leadership by translating business questions into clear reporting, analysis, and recommendations.
  • Perform hands-on work in SQL, Looker, DBT, and related tools to develop trusted data models, reporting layers, and decision-ready outputs.
  • Define, document, and govern core marketplace metrics so leaders across departments are working from a consistent source of truth.
  • Establish and maintain report validation standards, QA processes, documentation, refresh schedules, and ownership expectations for marketplace reporting.
  • Identify reporting gaps, data issues, broken logic, latency risks, and process breakdowns, then lead corrective action with urgency.
  • Build monitoring and alerting practices around critical marketplace datasets and reporting workflows to improve reliability and reduce downstream risk.
  • Partner closely with Marketplace Operations, Seller Success, Finance, Marketing, Product, and Technology to prioritize BI needs and deliver practical solutions.
  • Manage BI intake, prioritization, and delivery cadence for marketplace work using a structured backlog and sprint-based approach consistent with existing BI team workflows.
  • Lead deep-dive analysis on key marketplace opportunities and risks, including growth trends, seller quality, customer lifecycle behavior, operational bottlenecks, and emerging performance issues.
  • Train business users on how to interpret reports correctly, apply filters appropriately, and use data responsibly in decision-making.
  • Contribute to a culture of accountability, clarity, speed, and business partnership within the analytics function.
  • Manage direct reports, contractors, or external BI resources as assigned, while continuing to operate as a strong hands-on contributor.
  • Performs other duties/projects as assigned.

Qualifications and Competencies


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Analytics, Information Systems, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, data analysis, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of leadership, people management, or functional ownership experience preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and hands-on experience building dashboards and reporting workflows.
  • Experience with Looker and LookML, or equivalent BI platforms and semantic modeling tools.
  • Experience with DBT, BigQuery, and modern analytics stack concepts.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, metric definition, QA, documentation, and reporting reliability.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect business questions to analytical frameworks and practical recommendations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong project management, prioritization, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • High level of ownership, attention to detail, and bias toward action.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience in e-commerce, direct-to-consumer, retail, or marketplace business models.
  • Experience supporting multi-sided marketplaces, seller ecosystems, or partner performance analysis.
  • Familiarity with attribution, traffic source reporting, tracking links, and performance marketing analytics.
  • Experience building operational reporting standards, SLAs, and governance frameworks.
  • Experience managing analysts, BI developers, or analytics vendors.
