Are you passionate about providing excellent patient care and supporting physicians in a medical setting? Join our team at Mission Pediatrics as a Back Office Medical Assistant!

As a Back Office Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in our patient services department, performing both administrative and clinical duties under the direction of a physician. Your administrative responsibilities will include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purposes. On the clinical side, you will take and record vital signs and medical histories, prepare patients for examination, draw blood, and administer medications as directed by the physician.
Here are some of the key tasks you will be responsible for:
  • Recording patients' medical history, vital statistics, and test results in medical records.
  • Preparing treatment rooms for patient examinations, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
  • Interviewing patients to obtain medical information and measuring vital signs, weight, and height.
  • Assisting physicians in examining and treating patients, and providing them with instruments and materials for minor procedures.
  • Administering medications as directed by the physician.
  • Collecting and logging laboratory specimens, and preparing them for testing.
  • Authorizing drug refills and providing prescription information to pharmacies.
  • Explaining treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physicians' instructions to patients.
  • Performing routine laboratory tests and sample analysis.
Operating diagnostic equipment, such as electrocardiograms (EKGs), to administer routine tests.
In addition to these tasks, we are looking for candidates with the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Knowledge in customer and personal service, medicine, English & Spanish language, clerical work, computers and electronics, psychology, administration and management, mathematics, public safety and security, production and processing, and communications.
  • Skills in speaking, reading comprehension, active listening, social perceptiveness, monitoring, critical thinking, writing, coordination, service orientation, active learning, time management, judgment and decision making, persuasion, negotiation, complex problem solving, systems analysis, systems evaluation, operation and control, troubleshooting, equipment selection, equipment maintenance, installation, and repairing.
  • Abilities in oral comprehension, oral expression, written comprehension, problem sensitivity, near vision, speech recognition, speech clarity, written expression, deductive reasoning, information ordering, inductive reasoning, mathematical reasoning, selective attention, fluency of ideas, speed of closure, memorization, arm-hand steadiness, hearing sensitivity, auditory attention, control precision, and reaction time.

EDUCATION:
To be considered for this position, we prefer candidates with a college degree, post-secondary certificate, and/or industry license. However, we also welcome candidates with a high school diploma or its equivalent, along with industry-required licenses, degrees, and/or post-secondary education/training.
