Job description

  • Summary:Operate powered industrial trucks sit-downs, standups, and reach trucks, to load and unload one-ton totes of peanuts both into and out of storage racks up to five layers high. Required to move materials to and from storage areas into railroad cars or trucks or storage facilities. Removes pallets of product from production line also will place pallets into predetermined sections of the warehouse or load onto trailers.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Inspects trailers before loading.
    • Ensures pallet quantity and correct product is loaded and documents on bills of lading before placing pallets to be shipped into trailers.
    • Receives raw materials from inbound trucks as required and ensure all documentation is accurate and signs for receipt of goods.
    • Ensure production line is stocked with raw materials.
    • Follows all Good Manufacturing Practices and ensure a clean and organized work area.
    • Safety is the main responsibility of the forklift operator.
    • Assists with any other duties as assigned by Transportation Team Lead.
    • The Lift Operator must follow all Good Manufacturing Practices and ensure a clean and organized work area.
    • Moves levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus.
    • Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials or hooks tow trucks to trailer hitch, and transports load to designated area.
    • Loads and unloads Totes of Peanuts from storage rack system in the Ambient storage warehouse using the robotic system.
    • Loads and unloads Totes of Peanuts from storage rack system in the cold storage warehouse.
    • Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device.
    • Inventories materials on the work floor, and supply workers with materials as needed.
    • Weighs materials or products and records weight on tags, labels, or production schedules.
    • Loads or unloads materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting device.
    • Lubricates truck, recharges batteries, fills fuel tank, or replaces liquefied gas tank.

    Education and/or Experience

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); minimum one-year experience of forklift operation, preferably in manufacturing setting.

    Language Skills

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

    Mathematical Skills
