A leading digital streaming network seeks a Payroll Tax Manager to oversee multi-state payroll tax compliance, reporting, and reconciliation processes. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate tax remittance, managing audits, maintaining system integrity, and partnering with internal and external stakeholders to support payroll tax operations across multiple entities.
Payroll Tax Manager Responsibilities:
  • Manage timely and accurate remittance of Federal, State, and Local payroll taxes across multiple jurisdictions; maintain data integrity with third-party vendors, oversee jurisdiction setup/deactivation, and act as liaison with Treasury for payroll tax payments.
  • Prepare, reconcile, and file monthly, quarterly, and annual withholding and unemployment tax returns; perform W-2 wage and withholding reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, employee equity reconciliations, and reconcile vendor reports to source systems.
  • Handle payroll tax audits and notices, including federal and state inquiries; research and respond to agencies, employees, and third parties; and support external unemployment advising and compliance activities.
  • Maintain and test payroll tax systems, including managing system upgrades, enhancements, and SOX compliance documentation; ensure proper payroll tax adjustments and reporting within payroll systems.
  • Provide analytical support to Accounting teams on payroll tax liabilities, manage reporting requests, prepare and review Forms W-2C and amended returns, and support special projects while ensuring confidentiality and process accuracy.

Payroll Tax Manager Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in high-volume, multi-state payroll tax.
  • Experience with ADP Smart Compliance or other third-party payroll tax providers.
  • Demonstrated experience handling federal and state payroll tax notices, including withholding and unemployment taxes.
  • Strong understanding of payroll tax adjustments within payroll systems to ensure compliance and accurate reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience with Federal, State, and Local payroll tax regulations and filings, with strong experience in NY and CA.
  • Experience with large-scale ERP systems is required; SAP ECP Payroll is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of compensation rules and payroll tax processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with proactive follow-up.
