The Payroll Temp operates within a high-volume, detaildriven U.S. payroll environment using Workday Payroll for processing and D365 for financial reconciliation. The temp will manage recurring operational tasks such as offcycle check processing, garnishment administration, and inbox management while also contributing to audits, reporting, and crossfunctional projects. Job responsibilities subject to change based on business needs.


We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist with expertise in U.S. payroll processing using Workday. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage daily off-cycle check processing including ongoing audits, reconciliations, and compliance tasks. This role is hands-on and fast-paced, requiring the ability to balance daily operational work with monthly, quarterly, and annual deliverables.


Hourly Rate:

$50-$55/hourly

9/1/2026 - 3/1/2027

Location:

Emeryville, CA - Hybrid, 4 days onsite


Key Responsibilities:

  • Process offcycle checks three days per week
  • Manage employee garnishments, including setup, auditing and monthly reconciliation
  • Reconcile and post daily payroll GL entries in D365
  • Perform monthly GL reconciliations
  • Support regular payroll processing, including data validation and audits
  • Assist with unclaimed property processing
  • Manage highvolume Unclaimed Property and W2 inboxes
  • Assist with payroll audits and internal control reviews
  • Support yearend processes
  • Support adhoc reporting, audits, and crossfunctional projects as needed

Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years' experience in US payroll processing
  • Hands-on Workday Payroll experience (mandatory)
  • Advanced excel skills Mandatory (ability to work with large volumes of data, vlookups, pivots, analysis, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail and prioritization skills
  • Reliable and the ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Excellent customer service and follow-through
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Flexibility with job responsibilities

The target annual base salary range for this position is $50.00 - $55.00/hourly.
