What are Payroll Sales?

Payroll Sales refers to the process of selling payroll services and solutions to businesses. Professionals in this field help companies choose and implement payroll systems that manage employee compensation, tax withholdings, and compliance with labor regulations. Payroll sales representatives often work for software providers or service companies, identifying client needs, demonstrating products, and closing sales. Their role is essential for businesses looking to streamline payroll operations and ensure accuracy and compliance.

Job description

Our Why

We strive to have every interaction be exceptional so that each connection builds towards a meaningful relationship; all while creating an environment where our Employees, Clients and Community thrive.
We don't rest until our clients' needs are met. Employers need resources to manage their workforce from hire to retire, including human resources, benefits administration, time and attendance, compliance, strategic growth, and much more. As we expand our services and reach, we evolve to meet those needs.

The Gig

Coastal Payroll is hiring a California-based Account Executive/HCM Sales Consultant (mid-level) to help employers upgrade how they run payroll and manage people-without the headaches.
What you'll own
- Build and keep a healthy pipeline through outreach, networking, and referrals
- Run discovery, present HCM solutions, and close new business
- Hit monthly/annual targets and keep your cadence consistent
- Partner with implementation/payroll teams to hand off new clients smoothly
What you bring
- Proven payroll sales experience (HCM/HR tech/SaaS adjacent works too)
- Strong consultative selling, presenting, and relationship-building skills
- Self-directed, organized, and comfortable working fully remote
Pay range: $70,000-$85,000. If you like solving real business problems and enjoy the chase, apply and let's talk.

A Day, Remotely

You'll kick off from Orange County by scanning your funnel, prioritizing warm leads, then hopping into a few discovery chats. Midday is for crisp demos and proposal tune-ups-tight, tailored, and no fluff. Later, you'll log notes, nudge deals forward, and swap quick updates with teammates so handoffs don't get weird. You wrap by setting tomorrow's outreach plan-because future-you loves a prepared past-you.

The Good Stuff

Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage; 401(k); Life Insurance; Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA); Competitive Salary; Paid Time Off; plus a Snack/Drink Room for when you need a quick victory lap between calls.
