Job description

Performs bi-weekly tasks related to all aspects of payroll processing including timesheet review, creating batches for time and attendance and adjustments to calculate and submit payroll in coordination with ADP Workforce Now Comprehensive Payroll Service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  1. Ensure hourly employees have entered time into ADP Time and Attendance on a timely and accurate basis for the pay period. Review and reconcile any time data file exceptions.
  2. Incorporate payroll changes from bi-weekly payroll report received from HR, including new hires, terminations, leave payments, severance, raises, and other adjustments as directed.
  3. Creates batches for calculation of bi-weekly payroll.
  4. Run and review the standard bi-weekly payroll reports and send them to the CFO and Controller for review and approval as well. Approve in ADP WFN once this is done.
  5. Work with ADP Payroll Best Friend to coordinate payroll processing.
  6. Complete the bi-weekly payroll internal checklist to make sure all relevant steps and processes are completed.
  7. Process sales commissions/bonuses monthly in the last payroll of the month and also various other bonus checks as needed.
  8. Create a general ledger file and send to finance once the payroll is complete.
  9. Create monthly and fiscal YTD wage reports to send to the CFO.
  10. Review quarterly and annual tax reporting.
  11. Approve final annual Forms W2.
  12. Submit HSA payments withheld from employees pay to Further each pay period.
  13. Assist CFO and Controller as needed with annual 401k Audit.
  14. Other duties as assigned to meet Human Resources (HR) and Finance department objectives.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex payroll processing and reporting
  • Ability to work in a timely fashion with minimal supervisory direction
  • Proficient in computerized payroll functions
  • Precise attention to detail
  • Ability to create various excel spreadsheets and ADP reports as needed
  • Good interpersonal skills; able to work well with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Understanding of federal, state and local tax payment regulations
  • Ability to responsibly handle confidential employee data
  • Demonstrated dependability through punctual attendance and adherence to timelines and schedules
  • Conform to and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions
  • General knowledge of accounting and understanding of the general ledger accounts and how they relate to invoices

Requirements

  • BA degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field required
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Experience in accounting, payroll, and/or spreadsheet software preferred
  • Recent experience with ADP WFN
