Job Title: Payroll Specialist
Job Type: Direct Hire / Full-Time
Schedule: Hybrid or On-site (flexible based on location)

Overview
Cherry Bekaert Staffing & Recruiting is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to support end-to-end payroll processing for a growing organization. This role will play a key part in ensuring accurate and timely payroll while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations. The ideal candidate is hands-on, organized, and experienced with multi-state payroll environments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Process bi-weekly or semi-monthly payroll for a multi-state employee population
  • Review payroll data for accuracy, including hours worked, bonuses, commissions, and deductions
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
  • Maintain payroll records and assist with audits and reporting requirements
  • Support tax filings, garnishments, benefits deductions, and direct deposit processing
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and assist with month-end close activities
  • Partner with HR and Finance teams to resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries
  • Assist with year-end processing, including W-2s and related reporting

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years of payroll processing experience
  • Knowledge of multi-state payroll regulations and compliance
  • Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, UKG, Workday, Paylocity, or similar
  • Strong Excel skills and ability to handle large data sets
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality

Preferred Experience
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is a plus
  • Experience in high-volume or fast-paced environments
  • Exposure to HRIS systems and benefits administration
  • Experience in industries such as professional services, nonprofit, or government contracting
