Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

TDL Staffing is seeking a meticulous and experienced Payroll Specialist to join their team in Fairbanks, AK. This full-time role offers competitive pay and involves managing payroll for multiple construction companies using specialized systems.

Strong knowledge of payroll laws and accounting principles is essential, along with proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUP, PivotTables). Excellent communication, organizational skills, and a commitment to accuracy are required. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing deadlines, maintaining confidentiality, working with payroll software, and collaborating in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll accurately and confidentially
  • Manage certified payroll and prepare related reports
  • Perform payroll-related accounting tasks including benefits, tax, bank, union, and ledger reconciliations
  • Handle data migration and validation between Workday and Viewpoint Spectrum
  • Calculate retro payments, garnishments, union dues, fringes, and voluntary deductions
  • Maintain deduction codes and process 401(k) contributions
  • File federal, state, and year-end payroll reports
  • Address payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies
  • Support internal audits and maintain payroll records
  • Adhere to safety standards and perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
  • Associate’s degree in Accounting with at least 1 year of payroll experience, or
  • Minimum of 4 years payroll experience with basic college-level accounting coursework
  • Experience with large companies or Native Corporations (preferred)
  • Familiarity with multistate payroll, certified payroll, and union reporting (preferred)
  • Construction industry payroll experience a plus
  • Experience with Viewpoint Spectrum or similar integrated software (preferred)
  • Must support a drug-free work environment
