Job description

LHH is partnering with a retail organization that is searching for a temporary to hire Payroll Accountant for their team. This role ensures accurate and timely payroll, compliance with regulations, and proper financial reporting related to employee compensation. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of payroll processing experience and have some knowledge of accounting-type tasks. This role partners with HR and is communicating with internal employees so they are looking for someone with strong customer service skills and professional communication skills. This role requires a fully in office schedule in Seattle, WA. Responsibilities
  • Process bi-weekly and/or weekly payroll for hourly and salaried retail employees across multiple store locations
  • Reconcile payroll data, including wages, bonuses, commissions, and deductions
  • Maintain payroll records in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Review timekeeping systems and resolve discrepancies related to hours worked, overtime, and PTO
  • Prepare and post payroll journal entries to the general ledger
  • Perform account reconciliations for payroll-related accounts (e.g., wages payable, benefits, taxes)
  • Coordinate with HR on new hires, terminations, pay rate changes, and employee data integrity
  • Ensure accurate calculation and filing of payroll taxes and related reporting
  • Assist with audits by providing payroll documentation and support
  • Support year-end processing, including W-2 preparation and reconciliation
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and internal controls
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Three or more years of payroll and/or accounting experience, preferably in retail or multi-location environments
  • Knowledge of payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paycom, Workday, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of payroll laws, tax regulations, and wage/hour compliance
  • Experience with general ledger and account reconciliations
  • Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in a high-volume environment
Pay Details: $33.00 to $36.00 per hour
