JOB SUMMARY:

The Payroll Specialist will ensure accurate processing and recording of the company's payroll, provide timely and accurate financial information, and participate in daily data entry for Payroll processing.

SALARY RANGE:  $29.00 - $34.00 hourly, $60,320 - $70,720 annually (companywide)

  • Annual Discretionary Bonus based on company profitability and your manager's assessment of your performance.
  • A 401(k) savings plan under which BNB matches the first three percent of your deferral with a 100% match and the next two percent with a 50% match for a total matching contribution of 4% of your pay. You are immediately 100% vested in all contributions (including BNB match). We provide both traditional (Pre-Tax) and Roth (post tax) contribution options in our 401(k) plan.
  • We're also proud to be an employee-owned company. This means you get an ownership stake in BNB through a benefit called an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). It's 100% company funded and is invested in BNBuilders stock. You can participate in this long-term plan after you complete 1 year of service (with at least 1,000 hours).

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform daily payroll department operations.
  • Manage workflow to ensure payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
  • Verify employees' work hours and payment through the payroll system.
  • Provide customer service and assist employees with questions or inquiries regarding deductions such as federal and state withholdings, benefit premiums, earnings, and other statements.
  • Validate any updates processed in the payroll system prior to closing of payroll.
  • Assist with setting up new or modified garnishment orders.
  • Respond timely to child support and other agencies with garnishment related questions.
  • Process manual checks such as layoffs, terminations, or payroll related adjustments such as missed hours, retro payments, and bonuses.
  • Assist with training data entry clerks or new team members.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS, BA or related years of experience.
  • At least 3 years of Payroll/Accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of union payroll processes, a plus.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Must be able to work under tight deadlines.
  • Should be able to deal with difficult, sensitive, and confidential issues.
  • Must have good customer services and overall understanding of accounting, exposure to management reporting systems.
  • Excellent organization skills, time management and prioritization abilities.
  • Must be a team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations.
  • Strong PC skills.
  • High degree of professionalism.
  • Ability for decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills
