Job description

Clyde & Co seeks a highly motivated attorney with 3-5 years of experience in insurance coverage to join our growing team. This is a primarily non-litigation, coverage-focused position advising domestic and international insurers on complex coverage issues across a range of liability policies, including directors and officers, employment practices, professional liability, commercial general liability, and commercial auto liability policies.

This opportunity is suited to someone who thrives within a busy, stimulating and fast-paced team environment, and has a strong interest in working on complex insurance coverage matters.
What You'll Do

  • Analyze rights and obligations under insurance policies, draft coverage opinions and position letters, and provide coverage advice to clients.
  • Conduct rigorous legal research, analyze findings, and draft memoranda.
  • Review and analyze pleadings, discovery, motions, and other materials from underlying litigation to evaluate insurance coverage implications.
  • Collaborate directly with clients and colleagues on coverage strategy, claim analysis, and policy interpretation.
  • Attend arbitrations, hearings, and mediations, as needed.
  • Take a proactive role in managing matters, deadlines, and communication with clients.

We're Looking For Someone Who

  • Possesses excellent academic credentials.
  • Is admitted to practice in California or another U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Has experience in working on complex insurance coverage matters. Litigation experience is a plus but not required.
  • Has excellent legal research, writing, and oral communication skills.
  • Has strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Has the ability to simultaneously handle sensitive and time-sensitive matters.
  • Has effective problem-solving skills.
  • Has the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.

Responsibilities:

In this role you will:

  • Review and analyze claims files and policies.
  • Prepare correspondence to colleagues and clients.
  • Conduct legal research using Westlaw/Lexis/Nexis.
  • Review and analyze documents and materials for production.
  • Actively investigate claims and prepare case handling strategies.
  • Actively and effectively report to our insurance carrier clients and insureds.

The salary ranges for this position are as follows:

  • California: $185,000 - $210,000
  • Illinois: $170,000 - $190,000
  • Washington, D.C.: $175,000 - $195,000
  • Texas: $155,000 - $170,000
  • Colorado: $155,000 - $170,000

The ranges for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. It is not typical for an individual to be hired near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
