Job description

Budget Analyst
This position reports directly to the VP, Fiscal Evaluation and Compliance with a dotted line to the Executive Director for the local U.S.VETS site. The primary responsibility of this position is to generate grant and contract billing, preparation of annual budgets, and to review and monitor the fiscal performance of each program at the site to ensure financial stability.
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Responsibilities
  • Generation and submission of grant and contract funding requests
  • Ensure timely collection of all site-related receivables
  • Ensure all financial activity complies with all internal Policies and Procedures as well as all Federal, State, and Local regulatory requirements
  • Ensure that all financial activities are in alignment with grant applications and awards
  • Preparation of site annual operating budget as well as grant budgets in conjunction with the Site Operations Manager and Executive Director
  • Prepare grant budget modifications when necessary
  • Monitor the site, program, and grant financial performance and coordinate with the National Office on any necessary action items
  • Work with the Site Operations Manager in preparing and submitting funder required financial reports
  • Preparation of required internal financial reports and analysis as necessary
  • Perform other necessary site-related accounting functions
  • Participate in staff meetings and report on financial status of site
  • Participate in site activities and special projects as assigned

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience required, Non-profit experience in related field preferred
  • At least 2 years in leadership, management, or supervisory role preferred
  • Knowledge of OMB Circulars
  • Experience working with Non-Profit Fund Accounting Software (MIP preferred)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Professional manner and appearance
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Ability to take direction
