Pawnbrokers operate pawnshops. As a pawnbroker, you grant cash loans to customers in exchange for collateral in the form of personal assets, such as electronic devices, jewelry, or household goods. The customer forfeits those items should they be unable to repay the loan, and the pawnbroker may then sell the article to make back the money they loaned out. As a pawnbroker, your job duties include examining items to ensure quality and functionality, negotiating loan amounts, preparing and signing contractual agreements, handling loan disbursements, selling pawned items, managing sales associates, and maintaining detailed business records.
