Job description

Responsibilities

Allan Myers is looking for an eager, hard-working, goal-driven Project Engineer who is passionate about the heavy civil construction industry. We will provide the training and resources to help you develop the skills required to successfully manage projects professionally and personally. We build things that matter and improve the communities we live and work in. Join our team and let's build excellence together!This position collaborates with the Project Team to plan and support the completion of assigned construction engineering projects and ensures the plan is moving forward to meet anticipated deadlines. Conducts all work in accordance with Allan Myers policies, procedures, and programs.

This role is on-site and requires working from the regional office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Problem solves with the Project Manager and Superintendent to develop effective plans and schedules for constructing the project and determine the means and methods necessary to meet project goals.
  • Interprets drawings, specifications and technical information and disseminates to the Project Team, subcontractors, vendors, and consultants to ensure compliance with engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design details.
  • Identifies, orders and coordinates delivery of permanent materials such as pipe, stone, reinforcing steel, beams, etc. Works with the Project Team and Purchasing Department to ensure that all required purchase orders and subcontracts are finalized in a timely and cost-effective and simplistic manner.
  • Manages the RFI and submittal process including establishment and maintenance of project control logs in CMiC. 
  • Processes owner billings and project related accounting tasks.
  • Assists Project Manager with development of Change Orders and related documentation.
  • Monitors all work, including subcontractors, for safety compliance in conjunction with the Safety Manager. Maintains project safety files and reviews the project schedule for activities requiring special safety measures.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a construction management (estimating, operations, and/or engineering) role. Heavy civil experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, related major, or equivalent required. Continuing education in construction is highly desirable.
  • OSHA 30-hour required.
  • FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) certification preferred.
  • Must possess working knowledge of contract administration systems, job cost management, change order management, labor & equipment reporting, planning, and scheduling, preconstruction planning, safety policies and procedures, safe work procedures.
