Job description

Holy Rosary Church, located in Baltimore City, seeks candidates for a part-time Custodian. The Custodian helps to oversee and perform routine maintenance of parish buildings and property. This position reports directly to the Pastor and works collaboratively with volunteers, parish staff, and contractors.
Schedule: 18 hours per week: Monday, Tuesday & Friday, 8 am until 2 pm; some Saturdays will be workdays due to weddings, funerals, and other events. Hours needed beyond 18 per week must be approved by the Pastor.
Essential Functions
  • Cleans Church, parish office, community spaces, and rectory buildings.
  • Sweeps, vacuums, mops, and waxes floors as needed.
  • Washes walls and windows, removes dust and debris as needed.
  • Select equipment and materials for cleaning, replenishes supplies in buildings as needed.
  • Removes trash from inside the buildings and from the grounds.
  • Performs minor maintenance tasks, such as replacing filters and bulbs.
  • Ensures that church is clean and prepared for Masses (e.g., removes dead flowers, fill holy water vessels, replaces candles as needed, etc.)

Position Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the Catholic Church and church traditions is preferred.
  • Previous cleaning experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of safety standards for use of cleaning equipment and products preferred.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. independently (to handle cleaning equipment and supplies).

Pay Rate: $20.00, Hourly
