Job description

Associate Director of Development and Program

Maot Chitim of Greater Chicago is a not-for-profit organization established in 1908. We provide food and essential support to help individuals and families in the Jewish community celebrate holidays and traditions with dignity. Our core programs include holiday food distribution for Passover and Rosh Hashanah, as well as ongoing Shabbat meal support.

Position Overview Maot Chitim is seeking a mission-driven professional to join our organization to lead fundraising and development, and help support our operations and programs, with a future opportunity to grow into a leadership position. Working closely with the current Executive Director, this individual will gain hands-on experience across all aspects of operations and fundraising, while building relationships with donors, volunteers, and the community. This role is a key investment in building the organizational infrastructure and leadership needed to meet growing community demand.

Work Schedule • Ideally full-time; part-time may be considered initially • Flexible hours based upon candidate needs and Maot Chitim requirements • Weekend and early weekday evening work from time to time for major programs; • Minimum of 30 hours/week required during peak seasons: 6–8 weeks before Passover / 6–8 weeks before Rosh Hashanah

Key Responsibilities

  • Fundraising & Development • Build and strengthen donor relationships through outreach, cultivation, and stewardship • Solicit and secure gifts at all levels • Help identify and engage new donors to expand the organization's base of support • Support grant writing and reporting
  • Community Engagement • Serve as a visible and compelling ambassador for the organization • Communicate the mission, impact and community need with clarity and passion • Build strong relationships with donors, volunteers, and community members
  • Operations • Work with the Executive Director on day-to-day operations • Help plan and execute large-scale holiday distribution programs with a focus on efficiency, dignity, and responsiveness to community need • Work closely with volunteers to ensure efficient and compassionate service delivery

Qualifications & Experience • Minimum of 5 years of nonprofit experience, including direct fundraising and solicitation experience at all gift levels; Grant writing experience preferred • Strong public speaking and communication skills • Experience with donor relations and community engagement and, ideally, grant writing • Familiarity with Jewish organizations and community preferred • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and Salesforce • Experience in Social Media a plus
