Responsibilities

The Central Branch YMCA is seeking an enthusiastic and attentive part-time Gym Leader to join our team who will ensure the mission-minded operation of the courts by organizing programs and activities, addressing member needs, overseeing safety, and building positive relationships.

  • Connect: Supervise and manage adult drop-in basketball sessions, ensuring smooth gameplay and addressing any conflicts or issues with players in a professional and constructive manner.
  • Serve: Conduct regular safety tours of the courts and monitor the activities and courts for safety, cleanliness, and policy adherence as well as communicate and enforce the rules.
  • Lead: Ensure that staff members have reported to work as scheduled at the courts, are in uniform, and performing their job duties. Address unacceptable staff behavior and report issues to their supervisor.

Requirements

Candidates must be committed to contributing to the mission, culture, and values of the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne as well as

  • At least 18 years old, with a high school diploma or GED.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations calmly and professionally.
  • Has demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community both individually and in a group setting.

Salary: Part time $13.00-$13.50 hourly

Hours Available: Thursday, Friday 6:00-9:00pm, Saturday, 2:00pm-6:00pm Sunday 1:00pm-5:00pm
