Job description

Part time, 20 hours weekly with Benefits
We are a fast-paced Multispecialty Clinic at Stony Point that is primarily comprised of patient services in Internal Medicine Specialties. Our largest patient populations are Pulmonary and Endocrine. We are also home to a few other specialties that rotate during the week, to include a multiple disciplinary sarcoidosis team, as well as a pulmonary hypertension team. Our clinic is continually growing to meet the needs of our community! Our team is made up of RNs, LPNs and CMAs. Our RNs are primarily responsible for triage and message management but are also actively involved in coordination of support staff visits and assisting with direct patient care. We value getting to really know our patients and working closely with their providers in order to best meet their needs and create a positive patient experience. Our clinic hours are Monday-Friday 7:00am-5:30pm. No nights, weekends, or on-call time is required and we are closed most major holidays. Our team members enjoy free parking onsite at the Stony Point campus.
The Certified Medical Assistant provides direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the physician.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:
Current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association such as, the American Association of Medical Assistants, the American Medical Technologists, The National Association of Healthcare Professions, the American Registry of Medical Assistants, or the National Healthcare Association.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:
Current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association such as, the American Association of Medical Assistants, the American Medical Technologists, The National Association of Healthcare Professions, the American Registry of Medical Assistants, or the National Healthcare Association.

AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent
Experience REQUIRED:
One (1) year of medical assistant work experience within the last three (3) years if individual is not a graduate of a medical assistant program
No work experience if individual is a graduate of a medical assistant program
Previous experience using a personal computer and various software applications, including Microsoft, e-mail, etc.
Demonstrated experience utilizing strong organizational, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills
Experience PREFERRED:
Two (2) to three (3) years of previous experience as a Certified Medical Assistant
Previous experience in an academic health care environment
Education/training REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Education/training PREFERRED:
Graduation from a Medical Assisting training program from an accredited program of study such as the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
Independent action(s) required:
Functions under direction of a licensed independent practitioner, manager and/or RN in providing patient care, emotional support, and problem solving; all in accordance with hospital, nursing and unit policy/procedure.
Requires prior approval or guidance from supervisor: time/schedule changes; legal issues; directed care which deviates from standard; and identify educational resources to meet developmental needs.
Job duties may include the handling, transportation, access to and/or contact with medications and related supplies.

Additional position requirements:
Certified Medical Assistants work all three shifts, weekends and holidays. Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established with your specific Nurse Manager/Practice Manager.
Schedules, including requirements of shift rotations and hours of work may be adjusted as necessary to meet clinic requirements and/or as needed.
