Job description

This position is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the parts room by executing accurate and timely inventory transactions, assisting with requisitions and services, and maintaining the organization and cleanliness of the parts area. This role offers the opportunity to learn and grow within the field of inventory and materials management, in a respectful and collaborative environment. The assistant plays a critical support role in ensuring efficient operations and communication across departments.

This position reports to the Parts Room Manager.

DESCRIPTION

  • Application of the Company’s Core Values in the work environment.
  • Receive incoming parts: verify accuracy of items and quantities, and record movement to assigned stock locations.
  • Issue outgoing parts to appropriate personnel or departments with proper documentation and accuracy.
  • Follow procedures for tool loans, including issuance and return tracking.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, well-organized, and efficient parts room operation.
  • Prepare and process requisitions for both regularly stocked and specially requested items.
  • Submit and monitor service requests for internal maintenance or external repairs of parts and equipment.
  • Support inventory accuracy through cycle counts, physical inventories, and regular stock audits.
  • Assist with inventory management processes, including monitoring stock levels, reorder points, and maintaining inventory thresholds.
  • Maintain and update part records, including part numbers, descriptions, and validity of items.
  • Generate and review purchasing requirement reports twice per week to anticipate material needs.
  • Build and maintain collaborative and respectful communication with all departments, including machine operators, quality inspectors, supervisors, and others involved in the production process.

COMPETENCIES

  • Knowledge of inventory systems, reorder points, and basic warehouse operations.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling inventory transactions.

EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience with inventory management or materials handling is a plus.
  • Proficient computer skills, including email, Microsoft Office, and inventory tracking systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, lift (up to 50 lbs.), and climb stairs for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift and handle materials and tools safely.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work is primarily performed on the manufacturing floor, with exposure to loud noises, machinery (including moving equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, and scissor lifts), and varying temperatures. There may also be potential exposure to certain chemicals.

The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory when on the production floor.
