Position overview

The Store Operations Specialist plays a critical role in supporting store performance through execution of inventory management, compliance, and operational processes. This role ensures product availability, pricing accuracy, and adherence to all federal, state, and local firearm regulations, while maintaining organized and efficient backroom and administrative operations. Working closely with store leadership, this position drives operational excellence across receiving, inventory control, compliance tracking, and customer order fulfillment.

Key responsibilities

Inventory & Merchandising Execution:

  • Support store sales by maintaining visual standards in the store, to include merchandise presentation, pricing, promotions, and signage.
  • Maintain visual and merchandising standards across the sales floor
  • Conduct inventory counts, cycle counts, and audits to ensure accuracy
  • Monitor and resolve out-of-stock conditions and inventory discrepancies

Receiving & Inventory Control:

  • Receive and process all incoming inventory, including firearms, transfers, and e-commerce orders, in a timely and accurate manner
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready receiving area
  • Process inventory adjustments and goods issues to ensure proper system accuracy
  • Execute weekly and monthly reporting, including negative inventory and margin reports

Compliance & Regulatory Support:

  • Support compliance with all ATF, OSHA, and internal safety policies and procedures
  • Perform compliance checks including 4473 form reviews, bound book management, for documentation accuracy and compliance tracker
  • Assist with audits, corrections, and required customer follow-up

Customer Order & Service Support:

  • Manage e-commerce orders and layaways, ensuring timely processing and customer communication
  • Support firearm service and repair programs, including tracking, parts coordination, and follow-up
  • Ensure all customer transactions related to layaway and ecommerce are completed timely

Operational Support:

  • Partner with leadership to maintain appropriate supply levels (targets, PPE, office supplies, ATF forms)
  • Conduct case audits to ensure proper representation of in-stock firearms
  • Support overall store operations to ensure a safe, compliant, and high-performing environment

Desired skills & experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 2+ years of retail, inventory, or operations experience (specialty retail preferred)
  • Working knowledge of inventory systems and POS platforms
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and compliance
  • Effective communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
