Job description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Organizational skills and flexibility to move from priority to priority, which is essential to a role that juggles a variety of functions and projects.
  • Strong personal and professional judgment.
  • Proactively supports DC managers by providing counsel to managers by respectfully challenging their staffing assumptions to ensure that the current workforce is fully utilized and cross trained.
  • Present self as a reliable, trusted, and consistent business partner who can manage confidential, proprietary, sensitive information and various situations.
  • Responsible for decreasing associate turnover through innovative retention methodologies and developing a positive DC culture.
  • Solves problems and makes decisions quickly whether one-one-one or in a group setting. Promptly confronts and challenges inappropriate actions or comments. Establishes self as a leader, an advocate for the associate, and a gatekeeper for good business practices.
  • Ensure necessary vacancies are promptly staffed and work closely with HR to review staffing requirements.
  • Supports the DC throughout the performance management process, including updating reports, and supports:
    • DC leadership in executing established KPI's and accountabilities.
    • Monitors and help ensure key deadlines and milestones are met.
    • Assessing and analyzing budgets to find ways to minimize expense and improve performance.
  • Uses a physical presence and communication style that regularly secures informal and formal feedback from other managers through regular discussions or dialogue.
  • Proactively supports managing performance, organizational health, and the operation of the DC by asking meaningful and challenging questions to develop strong relationships with the management team.
  • Maintain regular floor presence to ensure face-to-face communication with DC associates to position an established presence that makes you a trusted and approachable resource.
  • Implements and coordinates training activities.
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned or developed.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5 to 7 years' experience in a Senior Distribution Operations position.
  • Working knowledge of PCs and various business software packages.
  • Business knowledge as it relates to budgets, payroll, general administration, etc.
  • Knowledge of labor and employment laws.
  • The ability to solve a wide range of complex problems which must consider short and intermediate term solutions.
  • The ability to handle potentially controversial issues, which involve negotiation, and influence positive outcomes among groups of varying positions.
  • Ability to improve existing systems or procedures which periodically result in new ideas or processes.
