Job description

Assumes responsibility for the efficient and profitable operation of a branch and its employees. Assumes the role of Branch Manager or Branch Operations Manager as needed. Provides a variety of customer services. Makes and services a variety of consumer loans. Must be able to effectively communicate and work with their staff in order to increase branch performance. Must be able to make sure that the staff are aware of the branch objectives and performance standards, as well as the staff's individual performance to promote success within the branch. Must also work to train and coach newly hired and long-term employees to make sure everyone can perform at an exceptional level.
Essential Functions
1) Partner with direct Manager to lead the performance management in the Branch to ensure optimum operating efficiency by:
  • Making routine employment decisions, including reviewing performance, assigning work,
  • providing training, guiding, and advising staff as necessary.
  • Resolving routine personnel problems. Continually working to foster and maintain team
  • environment with Relationship Bankers.
  • Assist with career development planning and engage in coaching conversations.

2) Performs Banking Procedures
  • Must be very knowledgeable about the banking industry and able to perform various Relationship Banker's duties.
  • Must be aware of banking regulatory matters and proper operational procedures in order to keep the branch running successfully and within bank best practices.

3) Assists with responsibility for efficient management of Branch operations by:
  • Interpreting and explaining bank policies, programs, and objectives, ensuring that approved operating policies and procedures are implemented and maintained.
  • Continually evaluating operating methods and procedures, making recommendations for improvements, and implementing approved changes.
  • Provides customers with information and assistance, responding to a variety of customer questions or complaints.
  • Provides signature guarantees and notary services; approves wire transfers and overdrafts within authority.
  • Ensures that the branch balances daily; maintains proper control of the vault and the teller drawer cash, as well as ordering of coin and currency.
  • Participates in, and may lead, regular staff meetings

4) Creates an environment of exceptional customer service centered around the High-5 Standards
  • Demonstrates an enthusiastic, positive attitude
  • Communicates well when interacting with customers (internally and externally)
  • Initiates conversations with customers to better understand the customer and their needs
  • Seeks options for customers' situations

5) Foster a culture of open communication and mutual respect and trust by implementing the 5 A's:

  • Lead by example and demonstrate to Relationship Bankers how to take ownership of issues and engage with other team members.

6) Makes and services a variety of loans by:
  • Interviewing customers and compiling necessary information to determine customers'requirements and the best type of loan to satisfy their needs
  • Ensuring that all necessary personal and financial data is obtained and properly analyzed
  • Providing ongoing service to loan customers and taking appropriate action to resolve any problems that might arise
  • Assisting the Collection department with recouping delinquent accounts
  • Responsible for accurately completing loan documentation

7) Participates in civic and community organizations
8) Assists the Branch or Area Manager in all other phases of branch operations
9) Assumes full responsibility of managing the branch in the absence of the manager
10) Attends education programs made available by the bank.

  • Associate degree or equivalent in work experience
  • Three plus (3+) years of branch experience
  • Participation in or plans to participate in EBML
  • One (1) to two (2) years of managerial experience or demonstrated leadership ability
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Full knowledge of branch daily operations
  • Ability to use and working knowledge of computers/strong keyboarding skills
  • Must maintain confidentiality and privacy
  • Professional appearance; grooming and dress consistent with MB appearance policy
  • Travel to other Mascoma Bank locations is required for training and occasional meetings

Physical Demands/Working Conditions
  • Must be able to lift or transport up to 25 pounds on their own or 50 pounds with another person
  • Varied work with a normal expenditure of energy and little or no unusual physical effort
  • May involve incidental business machine operations
  • Work involves intermittent periods of stationary positioning and traversing
