About the Role

Hyatt Place Melbourne Essendon Fields is looking for a dynamic Business Development Manager to oversee corporate and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) sales. This role focuses on building strong client relationships, securing high-yielding corporate and group accounts, and driving hotel revenue through strategic and proactive sales efforts.

Main Responsibilities
  • Follow a structured sales plan to secure high-yield corporate and MICE accounts, boosting occupancy and revenue.
  • Meet weekly and monthly targets for corporate room nights, MICE revenue and hotel outlet sales as per the budget.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of sales and marketing strategies to drive business growth.
  • Negotiate rates, prepare proposals and respond to corporate room block and group booking inquiries within required timeframes.
  • Host familiarisation tours and site inspections for prospective clients, aligning with Hyatt brand standards.
  • Proactively prospect and grow a portfolio of corporate and group accounts for conferencing and accommodation.
  • Respond to client queries promptly and ensure timely follow-ups to close deals successfully.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients, ensuring regular communication and professional interactions.
  • Identify new business opportunities, represent the hotel at events, collaborate with partners and assist with promotional campaigns to drive revenue.
Qualifications
  • Relevant degree in Hospitality, Business or Marketing is an advantage.
  • Proven track record in a sales or business development, particularly in the hospitality or MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) sectors.
  • Understanding of the hospitality industry including market trends, competitor activities and client needs.
  • Knowledge of revenue and yield management including related tools is highly regarded.
  • Familiarity with technology including Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems (Salesforce, Opera).
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to focus on accuracy and detail.

Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to foster and maintain professional relationships both internally and externally to the hotel.
