While benefits can vary by employer, many part-time positions now offer perks such as health insurance, paid time off, and retirement plans, though often on a prorated basis compared to full-time roles. Eligibility requirements—such as minimum weekly hours—may apply, so it's important to clarify these details during the application process. Part-time employees may also have access to professional development opportunities and employee discounts. These benefits can make part-time roles a great option for those seeking work-life balance without sacrificing essential coverage.

Can you get a part-time job with benefits?

Part-time jobs with benefits are available in various industries, often including health insurance, paid time off, and retirement plans, but they are less common than full-time positions. Some companies offer benefits to part-time employees who work a minimum number of hours per week, and benefits may vary based on the job role and location.

The University of Washington Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine has six academic anesthesiologist positions available at the rank of Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice, Associate Professor of Clinical Practice or Professor of Clinical Practice. These positions are either full-time or part-time with an anticipated start date of December 2025 or thereafter. These positions are also not tenure-track and not eligible for tenure. Duties include the teaching of residents, fellows, medical students and the clinical care team. The successful candidate will provide general anesthesia services. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, scholarship and service. The initial appointment period will be three years with eligibility for renewal thereafter. Faculty on the clinical practice track hold multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Salary and academic appointment at University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. The base salary range for these positions will be Assistant Professor $29,532 - $32,126 per month ($354,384 - $385,512 annually), Associate Professor $33,843 - $34,181 per month ($406,116 - $410,172 annually) or Professor $35,657 - $37,151 per month ($427,884 - $445,812 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a US Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through the UWP practice plan. Compensation provided by the UWP practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. For practitioners holding an appointment in the physicians practice plan, see the link for additional benefits that may be available at UWP: https://faculty.uwmedicine.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/UWP-Benefits-Summary-for-recruitingef-edits-v3.pdf.
