Job description

Position Title
PRN Guest Services AssociateBell HospitalPosition Summary / Career Interest:The Guest Services Associate possesses a basic knowledge of computer programs, including 02, the database used for tracking inpatient and outpatient information. The ideal candidate must have excellent verbal communication skills in a high-paced environment, providing superior customer service in person and on the telephone. The associate maintains accurate in-house phone numbers, maps, and other pertinent information as required as well as tracks department location changes, phone number changes, etc., in order to provide up-to-the minute information for internal and external customers.
2 positions needed - morning and evening shift available. Please only apply if you are interested in working weekends as weekends will be required. Thank you!Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
  • Demonstrates ability to provide care/service safely and efficiently for the care of each patient.
  • Assists with operations of the Information Desk for the University of Kansas main Hospital to develop and enhance customer service for all patients and visitors.
  • With the aid of the health system computer and network, provides rapid and professional response to all patient and visitor inquires in person and over the phone.
  • Locates appropriate physicians/services for patients and visitors throughout the hospital, pages clinical staff as appropriate.
  • Maintains a current and up-to-date patient information listing, in-house phone numbers, maps, department locations and other pertinent information as required.
  • Escorts patients and visitors in wheelchairs if necessary; if unable to leave desk may utilize health system volunteers or Central Transport to assist.
  • Assists senior patients with outside transportation.
  • Maintains confidentiality issues including no information, denial and expiration patients.
  • Works collaboratively and cooperatively with information desk volunteers, including training.
  • Works cooperatively with other health system employees/internal customers and provides relief at the Valet Receptionist or Heart Hospital Information Desk as needed.
  • Assists visitors with requests for voter registration, clergy parking and parking ticket validations.
  • Monitors facility conditions, notifies appropriate department for resolutions.
  • Maintains up- to- date calendar of events via e-mail notices.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly information desk.
  • Tracks inventory of necessary supplies and forms.
  • Attends mandatory staff meetings.
  • Follow policies, procedures, and standards; complies with Corporate Responsibility Program .
  • Assumes responsibility for risk and safety issues associated with position.
  • Maintains current and up-to-date materials related to area restaurants, accommodations, attractions, etc.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
