What is a part time vendor?

Part time vendors are individuals or businesses that sell goods or services on a part-time basis, rather than as a full-time occupation. They often work flexible hours, operating at markets, fairs, events, or through online platforms. Part time vendors may specialize in specific products and typically manage their own inventory, sales, and customer interactions. This type of work offers flexibility for those seeking supplemental income or wanting to test a business idea without committing to full-time operations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time vendor?

To thrive as a Part Time Vendor, you need strong customer service skills, basic sales knowledge, and familiarity with inventory management, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Experience using point-of-sale (POS) systems, mobile payment apps, and inventory tracking software is typically required. Excellent communication, reliability, and adaptability help vendors build rapport with customers and handle varying work environments. These skills ensure efficient transactions, customer satisfaction, and effective product promotion in retail or event settings.

Both roles are part-time but differ in work setting and responsibilities.

What are some common challenges faced by part time vendors, and how can they be managed effectively?

Part-time vendors often encounter challenges such as variable work schedules, fluctuating customer demand, and balancing multiple responsibilities. Effective time management and clear communication with supervisors can help address scheduling conflicts. Additionally, staying organized and proactive in restocking inventory or updating sales records makes it easier to adapt to busy periods. Building strong relationships with both customers and team members also helps create a supportive work environment and can lead to more consistent opportunities.

Job description

COMPANY NAME: JH2 HEALTHY VENDING, LLC.

POSTING DESCRIPTION:

"JH2 Healthy Vending in Livonia, MI is looking for a motivated and energetic Vending Route Driver to join our team. As a Route Driver, you'll independently navigate your set route, ensuring vending machines and micro-markets across the Detroit Metro Area are stocked and serviced. You'll play a key role in enhancing workplace breakrooms by managing inventory, rotating products for freshness, providing excellent customer service, building relationships with clients and maintaining equipment-while also enjoying a short, but specific weekend schedule.

This posting is looking for PART TIME WORK for coverage on weekends, holidays and occasional weekday support as needed.

Each ASSIGNED day starts bright and early at 7:00 AM at our warehouse, where you'll pick your pre-scheduled orders before starting your route. As a Route Driver, you'll work independently to serve customers, restock products, manage inventory levels, rotate items for freshness, and handle cash. You'll regularly lift up to 50 pounds and push or pull heavier loads as you service your assigned route.

This part-time Route Driver role typically runs Saturday from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, and Sunday from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm. You will process two specific routes for customers that require 7 days per week coverage.

The Route Driver will receive comprehensive training in vending machine technology, micro market merchandising, and food safety training. Once the training program is complete, the Route Driver will be responsible for providing the company services to specific customer sites.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or GED.

Demonstrate the ability to do simple math calculations.

Must have a clean appearance and a hard work ethic.

Physically capable of meeting job demands. Must have the ability to handle product totes that weight 25-40 pounds. You should also be ready for the physical nature of the job-this means frequent lifting, bending, squatting, reaching, grasping, climbing in and out of trucks, and moving product up and downstairs.

Minimum of 5 years driving experience (route driving and box truck experience preferred)

Must be 18 years or older.

Clean criminal and good credit history.

Must have the ability to move/walk/work quickly and efficiently and be on your feet 90% of the day.

Vending Route Driver requires a valid driver's license and a clean driving background for the past 3 years (no DUIs or major violations) as you will be driving a company box route truck and have to meet the requirements of our commercial insurance company.

Position requires a clean national, state, and county criminal history, as a route driver has access to customers locations. Must have the ability to pass a credit check, as a route driver handles cash.

Preferred 1-2 years' experience in a customer service position, or a minimum of 1 year of related experience.

Ability to operate or willingness to learn material handling equipment (box truck, handcarts, etc.).

Able to work independently, responsible for route, work unsupervised 98% of the workday.
