Job Description

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren Technical Center in Warren, Michigan three times per week, at minimum, or as required by the business.

The Role

As a Competitor Insights Manager, you will serve as the enterprise leader for competitive insights across multiple vehicle segments. You will provide deep analytical insights on automated driving technologies, in-vehicle technologies, emerging OEM and supplier strategies, and competitive product moves. Your work will directly inform product development, advanced technology planning, marketing, electrification strategy, and cross-functional decision-making.

This role requires strong technical acumen, exceptional research and synthesis capability, and the ability to translate complex competitive trends into clear, actionable recommendations for senior leadership.

What You'll Do

  • Lead competitive intelligence efforts for GM's product portfolio, delivering insights that shape program direction and strategic decision-making.
  • Provide meaningful insights derived from data, industry research, tools and robust cross-functional synthesis to enable informed portfolio decisions
  • Monitor and assess industry developments across OEMs and suppliers, identifying major strategic shifts, technology roadmaps, partnerships, and emerging risks and opportunities.
  • Conduct rigorous evaluations of product concepts, quantify market opportunities, and identify segment and technology trends that support strategic marketing decisions.
  • Deliver comprehensive competitive assessments, such as EV strategy comparisons, propulsion outlooks, and benchmarking of advanced driver assistance and hands-free driving technologies.
  • Support cross-functional partners, including Strategy, Innovation, Marketing, Engineering, and Product Programs with competitive landscapes, trend analyses, and assessments of competitor vehicles.
  • Partner with program teams to ensure they have the necessary competitive context to design and deliver profitable, compelling ICE and EV products across the portfolio.
  • Prepare and deliver executive-ready insights, summarizing complex, fast-evolving competitive environments in a clear and concise manner.

Your Skills & Abilities (Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 8+ years of experience in automotive, strategy, market analysis, engineering, or related fields.
  • Broad knowledge of automotive competitive landscape, markets, brands, vehicle segments, trends, supplier activity.
  • Previous people leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in a competitive insights/competitive intelligence role.
  • Proven ability to translate complex competitive data into actionable insights and recommendations that influence product and technology decisions.
  • Works effectively across functions to align stakeholders and drive well-reasoned decisions.
  • Highly action-oriented with strong ownership, follow-through, and urgency.
  • Exceptional ability to distill complex subjects into clear, concise insights for senior leaders.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and developing insights from loosely defined problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to challenge assumptions and offer fact-based recommendations, even when they run counter to prevailing views.
  • Strong analytical, technical, and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Master's degree, preferably MBA or equivalent experience.
  • Deep knowledge in vehicle technology and automated driving systems
