How much do part time therapist jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 30, 2026, the average hourly pay for part time therapist in the United States is $32.97, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $25.00 and $43.27 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What jobs pay 2000 a day?

Some high-paying roles for therapists, such as specialized clinical or executive coaches, can reach or exceed $2,000 per day, especially with extensive experience, certifications, and a private practice. Other professions that may pay this amount include certain consulting or legal roles, but for therapists, earning this level typically involves private practice, high-demand specialties, or working with high-net-worth clients. Achieving this income often requires a combination of expertise, reputation, and flexible scheduling.

How to make $200,000 as a therapist?

A part time therapist can reach a $200,000 annual income by increasing their billable hours, specializing in high-demand areas, and charging higher rates. Building a strong client base, obtaining advanced certifications, and offering teletherapy can also boost earnings. However, reaching this income level typically requires a combination of experience, reputation, and strategic scheduling.

What does a typical work schedule look like for a Part Time Therapist?

Part Time Therapists usually work flexible hours, which may include evenings or weekends to accommodate clients’ schedules. The weekly workload can vary, but often involves a set number of client sessions—ranging from a few hours up to 20 hours per week—along with time for documentation, supervision, and ongoing professional development. Some therapists are employed by clinics or practices with fixed shifts, while others work independently and can set their own appointment times. This flexibility allows many to balance other commitments, such as private practice, family, or further education. It's important to discuss scheduling preferences and expectations with your prospective employer during the interview process.

Can you do therapy as a side hustle?

Part time therapists can often take on additional clients outside their primary employment, provided they meet licensing requirements and do not violate their employment agreements. Many therapists work part-time or freelance to supplement income, but they must ensure they maintain professional standards and manage their workload effectively.

What is a Part Time Therapist job?

A Part Time Therapist provides mental health support to clients on a limited schedule, often working fewer hours than a full-time therapist. They may work in private practices, clinics, or telehealth settings, offering counseling, therapy sessions, and coping strategies. This role is ideal for professionals seeking work-life balance or supplemental income while still making a meaningful impact on clients' well-being.

What job makes 10000 a month without a degree?

A part-time therapist can potentially earn $10,000 a month by working with high-paying clients, offering specialized services, or building a private practice. Success often depends on experience, licensing, and client volume, but a degree in therapy or counseling is typically required for licensure and practice.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Part Time Therapist position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Therapist, you need a graduate degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field, licensure as required by your state, and experience providing direct client care. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and telehealth platforms, along with ongoing continuing education or certification, is typically expected. Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, active listening, and nonjudgmental communication set outstanding therapists apart. These attributes are crucial for building trust, facilitating client progress, and maintaining ethical and effective therapeutic relationships.
