The starting rate of pay is $27.87 (min) - $35.71 (mid), non exempt hourly rate. The position will average 20 hours per week.

NOTE: This position will start July 1, 2026 or later.

General Definition of Work

Provides technical support and assistance with computer hardware, software, and network-related issues. Ensures the Town's information technology systems run smoothly and efficiently, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general direction of the IT Director. ย

Essential Functions

  • Assists with all aspects of the implementation, installation and operation of information and functional systems.
  • Collaborate with the IT Manager to maintain effective communication and strong working relationships between the IT department, other departments, and external IT vendors.
  • Owns the ticketing system and provides technical service assistance to on-site employees.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Assists the IT Manager in the implementation of IT policies and procedures through planning, support, documentation, and analysis.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Responsible for operating and maintaining the audio-visual system during town meetings and events after normal business hours.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Trains or coordinates the training of staff in use of computers and network-based software products.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Responsible for onboarding and offboarding staff including the deployment of equipment, software, and access.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Research and recommends the purchase of information technology equipment and software for user departments.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Maintains inventory of equipment and software.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Supports the IT Manager with vendor and third-party installation, support, and upgrades on-site.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Complies with the privacy and security standards as outlined in the HIPAA compliance policies and procedures.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Oversee all phases of assigned projects from conception to completion.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Related work as apparent or assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of PC and Server hardware, software applications, design, and networks. Knowledge of CCTV security and devices, Basic knowledge of hardware components and how they relate to Local Area Networks (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs). Knowledge and working experience with various government technology systems/infrastructure. Demonstrates proficiency in organizational operations management and change management processes. Demonstrates proficiency in enterprise application support. Ability to demonstrate strong business analysis skills.ย  Demonstrates good stewardship of resources, possess good judgment, initiative, and always maintains a professional demeanor.ย  Ability to direct, and work as part of a diverse team and build collaborative relationships across teams. Demonstrates self-motivation and ability to work independently. Knowledge of and compliance with Town confidentiality requirements and municipal government security related needs. Ability to consistently demonstrate sound ethics and judgment. ย Ability to communicate effectively (orally, graphically, and in writing) with citizens, contractors, vendors, and Town staff to facilitate the successful completion of representative duties and projects. Ability to effectively communicate with end users to determine actual needs; ability to evaluate whether proposed solutions will meet those needs.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree in information technology, or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training and two to three (2-3) years of experience performing troubleshooting Windows Server, Windows desktop operating systems, Microsoft Office suite and network connectivity, Project Management, Organizational Operations Management, and Enterprise Systems Management duties in a small-size organization. Knowledge of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) best practices is a plus. Advanced degree preferred.

Technical certifications highly desirable: CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP).

Physical Requirements

This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions and occasionally requires standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting; work requires close vision, ability to adjust focus, depth perception and color perception; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by, means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines and observing general surroundings and, activities; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
