Job Summary

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Crump is accepting applications for the full-time position of Machine Tool Technology Associate Dual Enrollment Instructor at Riverside High School in Parsons, TN.

Job Duties

  • The Machine Tool Technology Associate Instructor is responsible for providing in person individualized theory and hands-on instruction to adult and high school students to prepare them for employment in the field.
  • Areas of instruction include blueprint reading, shop theory, precision measuring, technical math, CAD, safety, basic metallurgy, etc.
  • The Associate Instructor must monitor, grade and evaluate individual student progress; maintain student records in the college's student records management software; maintain appropriate documentation; submit timely reports; and assist in recruitment of new students and placement of graduates.
  • The Associate Instructor must also maintain good public relations with business and industry, participate in advisory committee efforts and cooperate with outside agencies.
  • This position also supervises and follows-up on students participating in cooperative education. Some travel may be required.
  • This position is full-time and reports to the Crump Campus Vice President.ย  Scheduled work hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Scheduled class hours are 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. This is not a remote work position

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of Technical Diploma in instructional area or equivalent higher education training with credentials in related field. A comparable combination of education and directly related work experience may be considered.
Minimum three (3) years of experience in the Machine Tool field within the last five (5) years.
Must possess NIMS certifications or the ability to become certified within 12 calendar months.
Must possess computer skills.
Strong hands-on technical background in field of instruction.
Proficient in the use of conventional machines such as vertical milling machines, manual lathes, CNC machines, and also Haas program lathes and milling machines, and EDM machines.
Must possess a high degree of knowledge in the following areas: blueprint reading, shop theory, precision measuring, technical math, safety. SKILLS
Must possess the organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher and interact with high school and adult students.
Must show evidence of good character, mature attitude and stable personality.
Must be willing to remain current in the instructional field and maintain personal certifications and program accreditation(s).

Preferred Qualifications

Associate's degree.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Prior teaching or evidence of ability to teach students a plus.
Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships with students, faculty, staff, the general public and business/industry representatives.

  • Normal standing, sitting, and walking
  • Must be physically able to lift up to 50 pounds, stoop, stand and work, with or without accommodation, to demonstrate and perform all work-based projects in a classroom and clinical health care setting.
