Job description

We are hiring in Carmel, NY! Join us at Easterseals NY- Carmel for an exciting career as a Part Time School Counselor for the Summer session. 

Summer session runs July 6- August 14

What You'll Do

As a School Counselor you will participate in the development of treatment plans and identify appropriate short and long-term social service goals for clients. You will participate in developing and carrying out behavior management programs as indicated. You will provide play therapy/counseling services to students with IEPs and provide social work assessment, counseling and referral.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Update the master treatment plan based on the changes to the master problem list and social work treatment plans.
  • Assist client, family and team with short term planning.
  • Participate and provide recommendations in all relevant interdisciplinary team conferences.
  • Educate team members about specific psychosocial issues that may be impacting on client's treatment plan.
  • Establish rapport with families and caregiver support systems with client consent and facilitate family meetings as needed.
  • Support/educate clients to relevant social, economic and mental health concerns.
  • Facilitate appropriate educational and parent groups and assist classroom staff/administration with family meetings.
  • Carry on a positive working relationship with both inter- and intra-Agency sources.
  • Maintain documentation as defined in Agency's Policy Manual and as required by funding sources, including quarterly progress summaries, IEPs and annual reviews.
  • Continue to develop professional skills by attending in-services and conferences.

You're a great fit for this role if you have:

  • Licensed in Psychology, Social Work, or Mental Health Counseling.
  • Two (2) years experience providing counseling to families and play therapy with young children.
  • Possess ability to function as an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team.

Compensation 

  •  $28-40/hr.
