JOB SUMMARY

The Summer Programs Youth Coach is a passionate, motivated individual who loves to work with and teach youth, provides a great customer experience, and has a desire to grow in the climbing community. The position involves top rope belaying for children, facilitating games and activities, and managing risks for participants during our various youth programs. Summer program offerings include week-long full-day programs, additional work with evening + weekend drop-in classes, parties, and other programs may be available as needed. Part-time instructors are primarily working with youth between the ages of 5-17 for 2-6 hours per session, depending on the program. Prior climbing experience is not expected or required – we are excited to train individuals who are excited to learn!

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide a supervised and controlled environment during all our youth and other programs.
  • Communicate effectively with clients of all ages and abilities while demonstrating empathy and compassion.
  • Provide excellent customer service for all guests by seeking answers and solutions for customer questions.
  • Teach climbing skills from provided curriculums and create inclusive spaces that foster a sense of belonging.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with co-workers and supervisors about feedback and concerns.
  • Speak open and honestly; asking for help when needed and look to learn from mistakes.
  • Develop skills to effectively communicate with others and listen to other perspectives to build partnerships.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Have a passion for climbing, yoga, or fitness, or an interest in engaging with our community, and shows a growth mindset through a willingness to learn and a sense of curiosity.
  • Demonstrate an openness to learn from others and collaborate to achieve common goals.
  • Interest in working with youth of all ages to support others having transformative, purpose-driven experiences.
  • Have a relentlessly positive and upbeat attitude to inspire others to live life intentionally and strive for personal bests.
  • Prior experience working with youth preferred but not required.

SUMMER PROGRAM (full day) AVAILABILITY

  • Availability to work shifts between the hours of 8:30 AM-2:30 PM, Monday-Friday, with the occasional day 7:30 AM-4:30 PM
  • Minimum 3-days per week availability
  • Minimum 4 weeks available between the dates of June 29-August 21
  • Part-time position, averaging 15-28 hours per week

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

    • This is a part time, seasonal position, hours can include a mix of both Summer Programs + evening/weekend drop-in sessions
    • Pay: $17-19/hr, based on experience
    • Benefits include free membership, in-gym discounts, guest visits, and pro-deals
    • New hires will complete a screening process.
    • Scheduled shift times may vary from week to week or month to month.
