Are you interested in sharing your knowledge and talent with students by helping them earn their CDL? Blue Ridge Community College is looking for a weekend trainer to expand its successful Commercial Driving School. This is a part-time position assisting with training commercial driving students to earn their Class A CDL and gain entry-level positions in the commercial driving industry. May assist with Class B instruction. Only 2 - 4 students per instructional session. Weekend courses are up to 12 weeks long with the potential for three, 12-week sessions per year with breaks between sessions. Full orientation and training is included for all new instructors. Drug testing and medical certification as required by DOT guidelines.
Review of applications will be ongoing. Qualified candidates may be contacted for an interview when/if a position is available.
This is a part-time wage position, limited to 1500 hours within a 12-month period, with no benefits. There is potential eligibility for educational assistance for BRCC classes and job-related training and/or certifications.

Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
  • Class A CDL with full background check and driving record check
  • Knowledge of the commercial driving industry and DMV/DOT regulations
  • Good verbal/written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision
