Medical Scribe

Foothills Infectious Disease Medical Group is a well-established specialty group located in the East San Gabriel Valley of Southern California. We manage a diverse array of infectious disease conditions and offer OPAT infusion services to a large geographical area. We are currently looking for an experienced, part time Medical Scribe to join our team in our pursuit of performing exceptional patient care. This position requires a high degree of scheduling flexibility in order to accommodate the physician’s individual patient appointment calendar.

The Medical Scribe position provides the opportunity to work first hand with our individual physicians. The core responsibility of the Scribe is to capture accurate and detailed documentation, electronically, in the EHR, at the direction of the provider.

Duties Include:

· Assist the physician in creating the highest level of efficiency and productivity in documenting patient visits. This would include, in-person visits, “telemed” visits and telephone visits

· Enter data into patient’s electronic record accurately, while reviewing and referring to other documents in the patient’s chart

· Transcribe patient histories and vital signs

· Document clinical assessment, medications, allergies, and complete SOAP notes as described by physician, for each patient encounter

· Assisting in the management of lab order entry and electronic medication prescribing and refills

· Other duties as assigned by Practice Manager and Physician(s)

Qualifications and Experience

· Medical Student or graduate of an accredited Medical School, strongly preferred; OR

· Medical Scribe Certification, preferred

· High school diploma or GED certificate, REQUIRED

· In-depth knowledge of Medical Terminology

· Minimum six months experience as a medical scribe, preferred

· Working knowledge of EHR systems, especially Office Ally, preferred

· Highly proficient computer and typing skills

· Typing speed 50-60 wpm

Bilingual Spanish, a plus

· Language skills adequate for high-level written and interpersonal communication in English

· Ability to proofread for accuracy and possess grammatical expertise

· Cooperative work attitude toward co-workers, management, patients, visitors, and physicians

· Work productively in a fast paced environment

· Ability to promote favorable clinic image with physicians, patients, and general public

Environmental/Working Conditions:

Customary medical business office environment.

Physical Demands:

Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment. Manual dexterity needed for using a computer keyboard and other standard office equipment.
