  • Scribing for Physicians in a busy Oncology Hematology Clinic

Minimum Education: HS Diploma/GED

Receives prerecorded audio notes from physician procedures. Reviews audio recordings for content. Transcribes recordings to type-written format using keyboard, computer, and audio control equipment. Decides which information should be included or excluded in reports. Distinguishes between homonyms, and recognize inconsistencies and mistakes in medical terms, referring to dictionaries, drug references, and other sources on anatomy, physiology, and medicine. Identifies mistakes in reports, and check with doctors to obtain the correct information. Performs data entry and data retrieval services, providing data for inclusion in medical records and for transmission to physicians. Reviews transcription for accuracy. Produces medical reports, correspondence, records, patient-care information, statistics, medical research, and administrative material. Returns dictated reports in printed or electronic form for physicians' review, signature, and corrections, and for inclusion in patients' medical records.

Minimum Level of Expertise: Ability to type at least 50wpm with a high degree of accuracy. Knowledge of medical terminology.

Medical and Immunization Requirements (All items are billable EXCEPT for the Drug Screen)

Immunity Documentation (Bloodwork or Vaccination Records)

  • Provide documentation/titers OR vaccine records for:
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 shots
    • Varicella (Chickenpox): 2 shots
    • Hepatitis B: 3 shots
    • Must be fully vaccinated for MMR and Varicella.
  • Hepatitis B Vaccination
    • May be declined (no exemption form required), but declination form must be on file (supplier can provide).
  • Tuberculosis (TB) Test
    • Must be completed yearly.
    • Documentation must show:
      • Date of test.
      • Result was read within 24–48 hours.
      • For positive history: submit chest x-ray results.
  • Drug Screening — 9 Panel, No THC (effective May 20, 2024)
    • Required substance screening for:
      • Amphetamines
      • Barbiturates
      • Benzodiazepines
      • Cocaine metabolite
      • Opiates (Codeine, Morphine, Hydrocodone, Hydromorphone)
      • Oxycodone
      • Phencyclidine
      • Methadone
      • Propoxyphene
  • Influenza Vaccine (Current Season)
    • Required November 1st – May 30th.
    • Not needed if starting between May 1st and September 1st (recommended to get vaccine after September 1st).
    • Facility accepts signed personal/medical exemption form.
    • IF DECLINING VACCINE, A MASK IS REQUIRED.
  • COVID-19 Vaccination
    • Not required but strongly recommended.
