Job Opportunity

The UTSA SBDC International Trade Center is seeking a motivated Part-Time International Market Researcher to support local small businesses in developing and expanding their export and import operations. This position offers exceptional professional development and hands-on experience in international trade, market intelligence, and global business management.

In this role, you will work closely with Senior International Business Advisors to gather, analyze, and synthesize international market research that support client advising sessions and help small businesses make strategic decisions to compete globally.

Ideal Candidates: Graduate students and high performing undergraduates majoring in International Business, Management, Finance, Entrepreneurship / Small Business, Marketing or related fields.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, interpret, and evaluate data
  • Detail-oriented, resourceful, and effective at solving problems independently
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Persistent, patient, and thorough researcher
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to conduct high-quality market and industry research and provide clear insights
  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Team-oriented mindset and ability to thrive in a collaborative environment
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Internet-savvy with strong digital research skills
  • Familiarity with UTSA Library databases is a plus
  • Spanish bilingual skills (reading, writing, and speaking) highly desired but not required
  • Genuine interest in international trade, global markets, and cross-cultural business

Key Job Duties:

  • Support the Center's mission to help small businesses succeed in global markets
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize international market research according to Advisor requests; advisors will use your research to guide client engagements
  • Provide clients with timely, relevant, and high-quality industry and market intelligence
  • Utilize university and external databases, including PIERS, Kompass, World Trade Atlas, Datamyne, Euromonitor, IBISWorld, and ReferenceUSA
  • Support special projects, trade initiatives, and training events within the Texas–Southwest SBDC Network
  • Contribute to project work aligned with your strengths, interests, and career goals
