Clerk – Small Business Development Center (SBDC) & TCMA
The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and TCMA are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Clerk to support daily operations, special events, marketing efforts, and program administration. This position plays an important role in ensuring the successful delivery of workshops, seminars, conferences, and business development programs that serve entrepreneurs, small business owners, students, and community members.
The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellent customer service are essential for success in this position.
Under direct supervision, this position supports SBDC (Small Business Development Center) and TCMA by coordinating events, maintaining website content, and creating promotional materials. The role includes assisting with seminars, responding to inquiries, and providing customer service. Responsibilities also include processing registrations, entering student data, and supporting meetings and daily operations.
Specific duties and responsibilities include coordinating and managing SBDC events, managing email and social media marketing efforts, assisting with identifying and coordinating presenters, supporting the development and evaluation of programs, collaborating with the SBDC Regional Director to promote programs, assisting in planning and executing seminars, coordinating the client success story program and Small Biz Florida Podcast, maintaining program records, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, and completing all other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications, knowledge, and skill requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, minimum one year of related work experience, proven clerical experience, knowledge of email marketing software and social media marketing, excellent communication skills, ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations, excellent customer service skills, ability to answer questions relating to registration and course offerings, ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and early mornings for special events, ability to work well with others, ability to multi-task and be well organized, ability to work independently and with others, high ethical and professional standards, knowledge of the business counseling and consulting process, ability to maintain strict accuracy and be detail oriented, strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills, ability to respond to needs of clients in a timely fashion, and innovativeness, professional knowledge, accuracy of work, maintenance of confidentiality, and ability to meet deadlines.
Physical demands include heavy work involving lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Additional expectations include maintaining professional standards of communication, ability to learn and apply new technology, and abiding by all policies and procedures. Continued employment remains on an "at-will" basis.
