Compensation: $18/hr
Benefits:
We have three comprehensive healthcare plans to choose from based on your priorities and budget. Housing Works covers most of the plan; you pay a portion, based on your salary. Staff begins accruing PTO immediately for a total of up to 30 days earned in the first year. We offer employees an educational benefit. This money is available for tuition loan reimbursement, tuition costs, and text books.
Overview:
The Part-Time Residential Aide (PTRA) ensures the wellbeing and safety of the program's clients and staff during their shifts. The PTRA provides crisis intervention as needed to maintain residential safety and security. The PTRA works Saturday and Sunday, from 8:00 pm to 8:00 am.
Responsibilities:
Primary:
  • The RA makes sure that the program's Code of Conduct is enforced and adhered to by program clients.

Secondary:
  • Build rapport with program clients and engage with them professionally and respectfully.
  • When necessary, de-escalate tense, even hostile, client situations

Other functions that may be required with this position include:
  • Ensure the safety, security and integrity of all residents and guests, as well as the physical environment of the facility.
  • Conduct periodic facility walk-throughs.
  • Always provide excellent customer service and confidentiality.
  • Communicate with the clinical staff on resident behavior as well as the care of those on the fragile list.
  • Provide screenings for all visitors, staff, and clients who enter subject to Housing Works' requirements.
  • Write and submit Shift Reports at the end of every shift in accordance with the department's requirements.
  • Write and submit Incident Reports in accordance with Housing Works's policy and procedures and, when necessary, testify in court about the contents of said reports after being prepped by Housing Works's attorneys.
  • Distribute meals to program clients when needed and help unpack and properly store meals that are delivered to the site as per the site's requirements.
  • Perform light custodial work consisting of cleaning tables, chairs, minor spills, and removal of trash.
  • During inclement weather, remove snow and ice from the building's property in accordance with NYC requirements using shovels, salt, and, if applicable, a snow blower.
  • Enthusiastically participate in advocacy and direct actions to end the twin crises of homelessness and HIV/AIDS.

• At least one year of work experience.
