Part Time Recruiting information

What is the 70 30 rule in hiring?

The 70/30 rule in hiring suggests that 70% of the interview should focus on assessing a candidate's skills and experience, while 30% should evaluate cultural fit and soft skills. For part-time recruiting roles, balancing technical evaluation with interpersonal qualities is essential to find suitable candidates efficiently.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Recruiter, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Recruiter, you need a solid understanding of talent acquisition practices, strong organizational skills, and typically a background in human resources or related experience. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), job boards, and digital communication tools is essential. Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask help candidates stand out in this position. These skills ensure efficient candidate sourcing, effective communication with stakeholders, and successful placement of qualified talent even within limited working hours.

What is part time recruiting?

Part time recruiting refers to the process of hiring employees who work fewer hours than full-time staff, typically less than 35-40 hours per week. Part time recruiters may work internally for a company or with an agency, sourcing, screening, and interviewing candidates for part time positions. This role is ideal for businesses needing flexible staffing or for individuals seeking a work schedule with reduced hours. Part time recruiting requires strong communication and organizational skills, as well as an understanding of the company's staffing needs.

What is the 80/20 rule in recruiting?

In recruiting, the 80/20 rule suggests that approximately 80% of successful hires come from 20% of recruiting efforts or sources. For part-time recruiters, focusing on high-yield channels and targeted outreach can improve efficiency and candidate quality.

What are some common challenges faced by part-time recruiters, and how can they be managed effectively?

Part-time recruiters often face the challenge of balancing workload and time management, as they are responsible for sourcing and screening candidates within limited hours. This can lead to difficulties in maintaining consistent communication with both hiring managers and candidates. To manage these challenges, it's important to prioritize tasks, leverage applicant tracking systems for efficiency, and set clear expectations with the team regarding availability. Additionally, collaborating closely with full-time recruitment staff and keeping up-to-date with job requirements can help ensure a smooth workflow and successful placements.

What jobs make 5000 a week without a degree?

Part-time recruiting roles typically do not pay $5,000 a week; high earnings in recruiting usually come from full-time positions or commission-based roles. Jobs that can reach this level without a degree often include sales, real estate, or entrepreneurial ventures where income depends on performance and client volume. Success in these fields requires strong communication skills, networking, and sometimes industry-specific certifications or licenses.

Can I do recruiting part-time?

Part-time recruiting roles are common and typically involve flexible schedules, allowing individuals to work fewer hours than full-time positions. These roles often require strong communication skills and familiarity with applicant tracking systems but may not always require extensive experience or certifications.

Job description

Part-Time Recruiter
RCR Consulting Group | Remote | Part-Time
About the Role
RCR Consulting Group is hiring a Part-Time Full Life-Cycle Recruiter to join our growing HR Consulting team. In this role, you won't just fill seats - you'll own your requisitions from start to finish. We're looking for a self-directed recruiting professional who thrives with autonomy, takes genuine ownership of their req load, and brings a consultative mindset to every search.
Our team supports a diverse portfolio of clients spanning industries such as Solar, Manufacturing, IT, Transportation, Logistics, Property Management, Mental Health, Government Contracting, and more. No two client environments are the same - each comes with its own culture, interview process, hiring pace, and talent landscape. Your ability to assess each client's unique needs, tailor your recruiting approach accordingly, and make proactive recommendations is what sets great performance apart here.
This is a fully remote, permanent part-time position working Monday through Friday. Hours will typically range between 10-15 per week; however, due to the natural ebb and flow of client hiring activity, hours may occasionally run lighter or increase beyond that range. We need someone with the flexibility to adapt as business demands shift. Prior experience working successfully in a remote environment is required.
We are seeking a recruiter committed to RCR long-term - this is not a transitional role or a supplement to other employment.
What You'll Own
  • Full life-cycle recruiting for multiple clients across diverse industries, managing each req with ownership and accountability from kickoff through offer acceptance
  • Developing, revising, and posting job descriptions tailored to each client's specific hiring needs and industry context
  • Screening candidates through resume review, phone screens, and initial video interviews to evaluate skills, experience, and cultural fit
  • Customizing your sourcing and interview coordination approach to match each client's process - no two searches will look alike, and that's by design
  • Scheduling interviews between candidates and hiring managers with timely, clear communication
  • Facilitating hiring manager feedback sessions and delivering informed recommendations to move searches forward
  • Maintaining strong candidate engagement throughout the process - providing consistent communication, updates, and a positive experience at every touchpoint
  • Drafting and extending offers in alignment with compensation guidelines and client policies
  • Conducting reference checks and partnering with HR consultants and coordinators on background checks and onboarding
  • Leveraging various ATS and HRIS platforms to track candidate progress, maintain accurate records, and report on pipeline activity
  • Building trusted relationships with hiring managers and providing guidance on market trends, talent strategy, and process improvements
  • Staying current on recruiting best practices, employment law, and industry trends
  • Managing multiple open requisitions simultaneously in a high-volume, fast-paced environment - pivoting quickly as client needs, priorities, and hiring conditions evolve

What You Bring
  • 4+ years of experience in full life-cycle recruiting or talent acquisition
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage your own workload, and drive searches forward without heavy oversight
  • Proven adaptability - you've recruited across multiple industries or client environments and know how to shift your approach based on context
  • Comfort operating with ambiguity and adjusting priorities as client needs change
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Experience working in a fully remote setting
  • Proficiency with ATS and HRIS platforms
  • BA/BS in Human Resources or related field
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification is a plus

Compensation & Benefits
  • $20.00-$25.00 per hour
  • PTO and paid holidays
  • 401(k) with matching
  • Professional development assistance
